My art explores the relationship between humans and the environment through blown glass and oil paint. I use surrealism to illuminate the beauty of the natural world and push the boundaries of how we see ourselves as part of the eco-system.
I received my B.A. in Human Ecology from the College of the Atlantic in 2015. Human Ecology is a versatile subject that allows exploration of human relationships with the environment. While there, I studied humanities, fine art, and community engagement. I also did an ethnographic study of a cultural organization called Impronta Culturale in the Veneto region of Italy and completed a glass blowing internship at Atlantic Art Glass in Ellsworth, ME. For my senior thesis, I painted a series of surrealist oil paintings and had an installation in the Ethel H. Blum Gallery.
In 2016, I was granted the opportunity to participate in the Maine Craft Apprenticeship Program alongside master glassblower Linda Perrin. After working closely with Linda for 7 months, the apprenticeship was completed with an exhibition at L.A. Arts in Lewiston, Maine.
I currently live in Grand Marais, MN and work full time as Program Coordinator at the Grand Marais Art Colony. My art making practice continues to fill my free time and feed my soul. I can often be found painting along the shores of Lake Superior and blowing glass whenever I can get into a hot shop.
